Baby Bentley

I have been meaning to write our birth story for a while now, but I can't seem to take my eyes off of my little guy! He was born September 9, 2012 at 4:28 p.m. He weighed 7lbs3ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long and absolutely perfect!! Here is the story of how he got here:
September 7-9 Dallas's family and ironically my family both had family trips planned to Park City for the weekend. Dallas's whole family was going (originally they were going to go to Yellowstone) and my mom and sister were going on a girls trip with some family friends from Seattle, WA. I had a busy weekend in store, I was going back and forth from family to family, trying to spend as much time with each of them as possible. My biggest problem with having both families up there was deciding who to spend the night with, Dallas no matter what was going to stay with his family since my family was an all girl trip. My mom told me that it didn't matter where I slept. She said all that mattered was that Dallas was right next to me in case my water broke, which was unlikely to happen since I still had about three weeks to go.
Saturday was my busiest day for being 37 weeks pregnant. I started out the day with Dallas's family shopping and riding the ski lift at Park City Resort (everyone else got to ride the alpine slides and the other fun rides!!) I then went with my family and we went swimming and I was running all over the place in that pool. With my family that night we played more active games, made bracelets, and had pedicures. I was really struggling with where to sleep that night because I was having so much fun with the girls. After going back and forth, I decided I better be with Dallas.
Sunday morning around 7 a.m. I woke up went for my daily bathroom run and went back to bed. It wasn't soon after that I started feeling crampy, then I started to feel really wet. I woke Dallas up and together we investigated if I just wet the bed or if my water broke. I started to feel really weird and super wet. I sat up in bed and I had Dallas get his phone so I could google it on his phone. We soon discovered once I got up to got to the bathroom and felt a rush of water down my leg, my water had indeed broke. We quickly packed our bags told both our families (my mom screamed so loud when I told her..haha) and we headed down the canyon. Of all places to be when your water breaks, ONE HOUR away from home. Dallas drove so fast, I think we made it in about 35-40 minutes. That was the quietest ride down the canyon we have ever had, we were both so nervous! Luckily I wasn't having contractions, just felt really uncomfortable!!
We checked into Mckay Dee Hospital and found out that three other ladies had just come in with their water broken too, it was a busy morning at the hospital! They had me STAND around while the nurses decided where to put me...super uncomfortable with water rushing down your leg!! haha! Finally we got our room and I got all hooked up to monitors. At around 8:30 My nurse checked me and said I was only 2 cm dilated....it was going to be a long day! Dallas and I sat in the room watching Sound of music and waiting on the nurses. I started having some rough contractions around 10, once my pitocin started to kick in, I was trying to stay strong before getting the epidural as long as I could. Finally around noon I got the epidural, heaven sent!!! I had my mom, sister, and Dallas with me in the room at this time. I got checked around 2:30 p.m. and was at 6cm, I was slowly progressing. Around 3 I began feeling my contractions again, and they were super strong. I pushed the button for more epidural, but it wasn't working. The doctor came back in and filled up the medicine again, but thought it was strange I could still feel contractions. I got a new nurse around this time (I loved her!!) she decided for kicks and giggles to check and see how far along I was, and surprisingly she said, "I think we are ready to push!!" I was at a 10, my mom and Macy got super excited and Dallas and I started to cry!! We couldn't believe this was really happening. Macy and my mom left, the doctor got called in and about 1 hour later, I delivered Bentley Dallas Berrett! I could not believe that little boy just came out of me, it was the most amazing feeling ever!! He is a little piece of heaven I am so grateful to have in my arms! The most amazing part was he was screaming when he came out, they laid him flat on my chest and the crying immediately stopped!! It was so amazing, a moment I will never forget!! It felt so nice during the delievery to have Dallas right by my side, helping me through it! Although a couple of times he got so white I thought he was going to pass out!! haha. They cleaned up Bentley and left Dallas and I alone to have our first time together as a family of three!
Later that night we had so many visitors, I felt bad I didn't get to visit with them very long. We stayed at the hospital for 2 very long days and nights and then finally got to take him home (another crazy feeling...we actually get to keep him!) I loved having so many people stop by during our stay and especially when we got home to see Bentley!! He is a very loved little boy!
Here are some fun facts about Bentley:
He loves to suck on his fingers
He loves to have his hands above his head, at all times!
